About David Allen

David is the owner and stone restoration technician of Abbey Floor Care. He was also a Director and founder of Abbey Commercial Services (Midlands) Limited, a Burton-based commercial cleaning company.

Over the past 30 years, David has concentrated on floor restoration, leaving the day-to-day operation of the commercial cleaning company to his wife. Or could it be that she decided he was not spending enough time on the commercial company?

David's interest in floor restoration grew out of the need for this service in their commercial cleaning business.

David has never had the desire to build another large company. Before coming into the cleaning industry, he used to run manufacturing companies (quite successfully, he may add), so he came to cleaning later in life. His enjoyment comes from the delight on his customer's faces when they enjoy their beautiful floors. His desire to do a fantastic job is mirrored by a desire to get paid on time.

David will not work for people or companies who do not adhere strictly to his payment terms, which are full payment on completion of the job. He has lost plenty of work by insisting on this policy, but Abbey Floor Care is still in business, with no chance of failing through bad debts.

David realizes that he gets most of his work because of him. He has been told many times that the reason they got the job was that he was doing the work and people could trust him in their homes.

Education

David received his Bachelor of Degree in Law from Northumbria University (formerly Newcastle Polytechnic) and earned his master's degree in Business Administration at The Open University. He has attended numerous stone floor restoration courses with national and international training bodies. The NCCA and The IICRC. He has also attended numerous training courses with stone suppliers, machine and chemical manufacturers.

Experience
