Victorian Clay Tiles Cleaning And Sealing Project In Windsor Berkshire
Last Updated on January 15, 2026 by David
This lovely Victorian Minton style Victorian Clay Tile floor in Windsor had a dull finish from years of old surface sealer and encapsulated soil.

I used a sealer-stripping solution to soften the old sealer layers. Then I used a scrubbing machine to release the softened sealers and rinsed them off the floor.

I repeated the process several times to remove all the old sealer residue.
I left the floor overnight and then returned to apply several layers of film-forming sealer to give a hard-wearing finish.

This is one of many real hallway projects referenced in our Victorian tile floor care guide, which explains why clay tiles often look tired and patchy, and how professional cleaning and sealing changes the finish.
If you are in Windsor or the surrounding area and you need help with your stone floor, please drop me a line. I’ll be happy to help.
